1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28 Pro Tourer restoration.
Disassembled and put on a rotisserie for complete body and underside restoration. Countless hours of body work and sanding followed by PPG Black paint (base and clear) with Cortez Silver Z/28 stripes and White Pearl ghost flames on the hood. The result of all the body work is a deep, brilliant black paint. All new stainless trim and chrome. Also painted Black were the front and rear bumpers, resulting in a stunning look for this Camaro.
GM 350, 4 bolt main, crate motor mated to a 700R4 automatic transmission. Ceramic headers join into a full Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust system. Marsh pulley system and Mallory Coil. To keep the car running cool, an aluminum radiator was installed with dual electric fans.
A complete Vintage Air A/C system was installed. Along with the A/C system, a modern four wheel disc brake setup was installed with Baer 13" drilled/slotted fronts and 11" drilled/slotted rears. All brake and fuel lines are stainless steel.
The suspension setup is what really makes this Camaro a Pro Tourer. Front suspension features Global West upper and lower control arms, Hochkis 2" lowering springs, Uni-steer rack and pinion with Flaming River u-joints. Hochkis spindles and front sway bar.
The rear suspension includes Hochkis 1" lowering springs and rear sway bar. Koni shocks both front and rear.
The axle is a Moser 12 bolt positraction unit with 3.55 gearing. 17" Billet Specialties wheels with 235/45/17 and 255/40/17 tires in the rear.
The interior was redone nicely with custom leather front and rear seats, a Lokar shifter, Corvin dash with Auto Meter gauges. The door panels are custom with billet window and door handles. New carpet, dash pad and headliner as well.
A nice Sony CD player is installed along with Pioneer amp and four Sony speakers.
This Camaro is exceptionally well done. Drives like a more modern car with the upgraded suspension and braking systems. Sounds like a healthy muscle car without being overly loud and not enjoyable.
This car has won first place at the Cleveland Autorama and Super Chevy Magazine Editor's pick of the show. It was also featured as a part of the Magnaflow exhaust system display at the 2007 Hot Rod Power Tour kickoff in Cleveland, OH.
